I’ve had enough of hearing so much gospel music that it serves self rather than serving the purposes of God. The Here and Now volume one album started out…Man we were in a time of prayer and fasting in the beginning of 2022 and normally when I’m on prayer and fasting corporately with church congregation I don’t really get a lot of my “word from the Lord” during those times. I normally get a word from the Lord when he just calls me aside by myself you know? He’ll just say ‘come up’ you know? ‘Come and spend some time with me’. That’s how I normally get a word from the Lord, but…
This time I heard God and I heard his voice telling me I want this praise out of you. I want this Thanksgiving. You are going to be an example in giving the word. Take the scriptures, take the word that I have spoken through my prophets, my Apostles; all of them….the holy men of God who are inspired by the Holy Ghost. I want you to take their words that I gave to them and I want you to sing these songs. These songs must glorify me! You must take the word of God. People must know the gospel through this project and that’s what Here and Now volume one became. So the Lord really put that on my heart on the end of January and immediately I went to work with it.
I did have some songs before and some weren’t quite finished. And along the way the Lord…led me. And so, this is all about really taking the word of God and putting it to song, you know? I’ve had enough of hearing so much gospel music that serves self rather than serving the purposes of God. I need music that is going to exalt God and people need to hear the truth of who God is. People need to know how they can be saved. People need to know that there is one God. People need to know that we’re not just singing and making things up off…you know…off the top of our head…or you know it’s not just coming off our head side you know?
We are are going about this because we really want to praise the Lord. We want to get his word, his good news to the masses. That’s what gospel music is supposed to be about. It’s supposed to have the gospel. It’s supposed to have God’s story. It’s supposed to have the good news in it. Though we won’t forget that the scriptures do also declare that: “We overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of Our Testimony”. So testimony is involved, but the majority…the greatest part of what we sing about it should be the word of God; because that’s the message that he’s given us and we’re here to communicate the message to people.
The scriptures say in Colossians 3:16 and Ephesians 5:19 that we should sing Psalms hymns and spiritual songs to the Lord. Paul told the Colossian church that they should let the word of Christ dwell richly and that’s what we’re about. Man if we ain’t about that, then you know we’re just doing what everybody else can do…but I’m really here because God has called me to be an ambassador.
