He is a vocalist, bassist, pianist, guitarist, songwriter, record producer, online
music instructor, husband and an ordained minister. For over 30 years he has
endeavored to transport God’s truth in his contemporary-yet-traditional sound
and style of music ministry. By innate design, St. Croix Virgin Islands native,
Kirby D. Trim is doing exactly what he was born to do: minister!
Kirby has traveled across several states and Caribbean islands to as far as Argentina sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and mentoring musicians. His music and productions have been recognized with more than 7 Rhythm Of Gospel Award Nominations. He has produced for a growing list of independent gospel artists at PenTab Records including Matthew Aarons, Abimael Innocent, Bishop John E. Smith, Karen Williams Lewis, Glacia Robinson, Pastor Emmanuel Smith & The ART Singers, Pauline Brash, and The Gunters.
On his latest album: Here And Now Vol. 1, Kirby is still singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs; “with a renewed fervor in the things he has been assured of”. Encouraged to remember his duty ‘to serve the Lord’ Kirby has been a very
active minister in his local church and surrounding church communities; directing
music ministry at conferences, teaching young musicians in online lessons, and
being a guest clinician at workshops. Growing up he fell in love with Jesus
through his parents’ prayer & Bible-reading devotions, the music his mom, Lady Lurine Trim sang and played at home; and the sermons passionately preached
by his dad – Bishop Desmond Trim.
It was at age 7 after church one Sunday he recalls playing a ‘tuned guitar for the first time’. He was invited to join the church band immediately and he has been giving his musical gift back to his creator ever since. Kirby grew up playing guitar,bass, keyboards, programming drums and singing at Faith Aflame Ministry Apostolic Church in St. Croix US Virgin Islands. Throughout his youth, Kirby studied with some of St. Croix’s & St. Maarten’s finest music teachers.
His journey eventually led him from St. Croix to Miami, Florida where Kirby obtained an Associate degree in Automotive Service Technology from Broward College, General Motors ASEP and Sheridan Technical Center collaboration. He credits God for also opening doors of opportunities for him to continue honing his craft while recording and producing for gospel artists at PenTab Records. He has since produced and/or recorded with Matthew Aarons, Abimael Innocent, Bishop John E. Smith, Karen Williams Lewis, Glacia Robinson, Pastor Emmanuel Smith & The ART Singers, Pastor S. Robert Stewart & The PenTab Singers, Mark Brown and Focus, Pauline Brash, The Gunters and others.
After so many achievements, Kirby could no longer evade God’s call on his life to ministry. He enrolled and obtained an Associate degree in Theology through the International University of Biblical Studies and Focus On Jesus Bible Institute collaboration. He has served in youth ministry, Christian Education, and preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Kirby met the love of his life, Kanece in 2002 and they married in 2007. They serve in ministry at Pentecostal Tabernacle International in Miami Gardens Florida, under the pastoral care of Bishop S. Robert Stewart and Pastor Omar Williams.
Since 1998, he’s trained young musicians from the Caribbean to the USA, Argentina, Canada and beyond via online lessons, in-person workshops, downloadable courses and also through his instructional video series: CHURCH BASS WITH KIRBY D TRIM!
While on a season of prayer and fasting in early 2022, Kirby was directed by the Holy Ghost to begin a series presenting the good news of salvation, sing songs that glorify the Lord, speaking scriptural truth to myths and appealing to listeners to make an urgent response.
He went to work right away and released: Here And Now Vol. 1. It is filled with music and lyrics displaying Jesus Christ as the incomparable, promised Messiah, the most High God, our sanctification, the only King, and testifies of God’s goodness. Kirby says: “I’m still singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs; with a renewed fervor in the things I have been assured of: Right Here And Now!” In his Here And Now Album series, this contemporary-yet-traditional male vocalist sings with an impassioned conviction, pouring out of his heart in praise, worship and scripture-filled proclamations.
